The Culture of The Bahamas

Today's Culture of The Bahamas

The many cultures that are of today's time outlived many origins and influenced by the multicultural ethos that includes Afrikans, Amerindians, Asians, Hispanics, and their cultures.  The word "Bahamas" originated from the Spanish word "Baja Mar" which means 'Shallow sea'.Yes, the emphasis of our waters is quite shallow as the entire region has turquoise color. what's amazing is the turquoise comes from the white carbonate sand and color light which is reflected off the bottom and unabsorbed by the water. The water is surrounded by saturation with calcium carbonate which is often precipitating directly out of the water.

So many of my friends would ask me, "so what's there to do here?"I would answer:

We have White Sandy beaches we enjoy by swimming. Some of us locals, Bahamians, would go fishing, underwater diving for seafood. Some, with their kids, have a family picnic and go swimming to see the marvelous marine life under the sea. Some would use the term "scuba diving" which is amiss when it comes to literally swim underwater without a Self-contained underwater breathing apparatus.

Equestrianism(horse riding). One thing to note is the phonemic orthography in English the general population is known for speaking, of course, we communicate more based on the influence of American speaking in the English Language.
